Announcement
September 30: William Carey University cordially invites you to attend the dedication ceremony of the addition to the Fail-Asbury Nursing building on the Hattiesburg campus, Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Tours and reception begin at 10:30 a.m. and the dedication ceremony begins at 11:15 a.m.
BSU—REAWAKEN Week
September 29– October 3 — The Baptist Student Union is hosting REAWAKEN Week. Campus-wide Biblical teaching will be led by Dr. Terry Booth (‘75) of Amite Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA. The Tom Edwards Band of Clinton, MS will lead worship. Each day of the week, the BSU will sponsor an event on campus to encourage spiritual awakening in the hearts of students, staff, faculty, and administration.
James Meade Art Exhibit
October 2 / 5-6 p.m. — An exhibit by artist James Meade titled “Dantes’ Inferno and Related Drawings” will be on display October 2- November 13 in the Lucile Parker Gallery on Carey’s Hattiesburg campus. A reception will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. Meade is an art professor at the University of Southern Mississippi where he has taught for 37 years. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. For more information, call 601-318-6528.
Christian Leadership Lecture
October 6 / 9:30 a.m. — Debra Barnes McGee(‘82), senior vice president of BankPlus in Jackson, will be the chapel speaker during our fall Christian Leadership Lecture. This lecture is one of four lectures presented throughout the academic year by outstanding professionals and businesspersons from various fields. The public is invited to attend.
MWC Reunion
Alumnae of the Mississippi Woman’s College will gather on the Hattiesburg campus to reunite and share their stories of the MWC years. Exact date and specific details to follow.
Guest Pianist
October 27 / 7:30 p.m. — The School of Music will present pianist Michael Gurt in concert in the Smith Auditorium. Gurt, a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Juilliard School, serves as professor of piano at Louisiana State University. He has won international competitions and has performed as a soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and abroad. General admission is $10 and $7 for senior citizens. MS Baptist Convention
October 27-29 — All ministers are encouraged to come to the William Carey booth at the Mississippi Baptist Convention in Jackson, MS, held at First Baptist Church.
Theatre Fall Show
October 30, 31, Nov. 1 — The Theatre Department will present “This One Thing I Do” on October 30, 31, and November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the O.L. Quave Theatre. The play is an exciting dramatization of the struggle by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton for suffrage and women’s rights. Regular admission is $10; senior citizens and military is $8.
