Admission, Progression, and Graduation Requirements
To be admitted as a regular student the applicant will have to submit:
- Completed application form
- $30 non-refundable application fee
- Official transcripts of all university/college work completed to date
- Three references - one personal and two attesting to the applicant’s research abilities
- A scholarly 1-2 page narrative indicating personal philosophy of nursing education and administration including personal goals

Additional admission requirements:
- MSN from an accredited school of nursing
- GPA of >3.5 on MSN courses
- Unencumbered license with no pending legal or state board action
- Eligibility to re-enter any previously attended college or university in good standing
- Computer literacy involving proficiency in word processing, email correspondence, and the internet
- Basic competence in statistics as evidenced by a statistics course within the past 5 years or experience in nursing research projects
- Evidence of a negative drug screen within the past year
- Updated curriculum vita
To progress through the PhD program requires:
- Completion of all assignments with a passing grade
- Completion of all courses with no grade below a B. (The student is allowed to repeat only one course to improve the grade to a B. A student who achieves less than a B in a second course is not eligible to progress in the program.)
- Successful completion of comprehensive examination. (To be taken by the end of the 7th term or after completion of 85% of the coursework.)
- Successful completion of a dissertation
To graduate requires:
- Successful completion of all degree requirements
- Completed degree application
- GPA of >3.5
- Nomination by the Dean of the School of Nursing
