Established in 1924 to confer distinction for high achievement in English language, literature, and writing. Sigma Tau Delta invites members to join based on academic excellence.

Hattiesburg, Miss., May 7, 2013 - William Carey University will hold registration for the two-week May term on May 20, the day that classes begin. Students must register for these classes by noon on that day. General registration for summer classes will be held on May 31. Five-week (Summer Term I) and ten-week classes begin on June 3. Summer Term II begins on July 8.

Hattiesburg, Miss., May 2, 2013 - Three William Carey University business majors received scholarships during the 21st Annual Small Business Leadership Luncheon held by William Carey University and the Area Development Partnership on May 1 at Southern Oaks House and Gardens. Recipients were Sharon Denis Bolton of Hattiesburg, Ashlynn Nicole Hust of Petal, and Tanner James Pace of Columbia.

Hattiesburg, Miss., May 2, 2013 - William Carey University inducted 36 new members, all students on the Hattiesburg campus, and one honorary faculty member into the Mississippi Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society on April 24. Dr. Thomas Richardson, professor and chair of the department of language and literature, was the honorary initiate. Membership into Alpha Chi is limited to no more than 10 percent of the junior, senior, and graduate class members, and WCU students must have at least a 3.70 Grade Point Average on the 4.0 scale to qualify.
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 30, 2013 - William Carey University’s Dr. Frank Baugh, assistant professor of psychology and behavioral medicine, dean of the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences, and graduate dean, and Courtney Lauren Daley of Carson, a senior psychology major, are among 68 outstanding faculty and students from 34 Mississippi public and private universities and colleges to receive special recognition from the Mississippi Legislature during the Higher Education Appreciation Day – Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) program.
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 30, 2013 - William Carey University students Courtney Lauren Daley of Carson and Patrick Earley of Raceland, La., received the Jenkins - Chastain Citizenship Award at WCU’s 2013 Honors Convocation on April 24. Dr. Tommy King, president of WCU, presented the awards to Daley and Earley. The highest honor given by the university, it recognizes students who have made the most significant contributions to student and campus life in exemplifying those qualities of citizenship upheld by the university.
Hattiesburg, Miss., April 30, 2013 - Josh Holifield of Laurel, son of Dana and Connie Holifield, recently received The Randolph J. and Brenda H. Ross for Excellence in Anatomy Award given to a first-year medical student at William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM). Dr. Tommy King, president of WCU, presented it to him during Honors Day Convocation on April 24. The award, established by Dr. Ross and his wife, is given the medical student who has the highest Grade Point Average in anatomy.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 29, 2013 - William Carey University held Honors Convocation 2013 on April 24 in Smith Auditorium. During convocation, Jim Smith, president of Grand Bank in Petal, was presented The Shoe Leather Award, which is given for extraordinary service to the university. Smith, who played baseball and basketball at WCU, graduated with a degree in physical education in 1971. After playing semi professional baseball and minor league football, he was drafted into the military.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 25, 2013 - William Carey University hosted the Bivocational and Small Church Leadership Network (BSCLN) National Celebration April 18-20. The conference, titled “Networking with the Iron Men,” included numerous meetings, lectures, music led by WCU’s School of Music, breakout sessions, a banquet, and other social events.
