Hattiesburg, MS, July 2, 2008 - William Carey University will host the Teachers Summer Science Workshop July 7 through 11 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Fairchild Hall on the Hattiesburg campus.
Conducted by brothers Lee and David Walker, educational consultants with a combined 59 years in the education, the Teachers Summer Science Workshop is geared toward first through sixth grade science teachers, homeschool teachers, and parents who are looking for projects to do with their children over the summer. The workshop sponsored in conjunction with Partnership for Learning.
“We want to offer teachers and parents the knowledge to inspire curiosity moments in science with their children,” said Lee.
Workshop projects include studying electromagnets, storing energy in the spring of a toy horse and gauging the electricity generated by a tiny windmill. Materials for the workshop are from the Educational Innovations catalogue and Partnership for Learning products.
The cost of the workshop is $200 and includes workshop, 2.5 CEU credits and several hands-on materials participants can take home. For more information call Lee Walker at 601-544-3549, David Walker at 601-582-7279, or email
