Hattiesburg, Miss., April 17, 2013 - William Carey University recently inducted 31 into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management, and Administration. The purpose of Sigma Beta Delta is to promote higher scholarship in business education and to recognize and reward scholastic achievement in business subjects. Students must rank in the upper 20 percent of their class to be considered for invitation to the society.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 15, 2013 - Dr. Francis Achike, professor of pharmacology and clinical skills in the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM), will present a lecture titled, “Advancing Safe Drug Use Through Interprofessional Education” on April 17 at 3 p.m. in the Lucile Parker Gallery. The reception was held in the president’s meeting room on April 10 and was attended by Carey faculty, staff, students, alumni, and family and friends of the retirees. Hattiesburg, Miss., April 12, 2013 - Dr. James M. Turner, dean of the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM), was the recipient of the Alton B. Cobb Outstanding Master of Public Health Award at the University of Southern Mississippi’s annual College of Health Awards Night at the Thad Cochran Center on April 2. Dr. Michael Forster, dean of the College of Health at USM, and Dr. Ray Newman, chair of the Department of Community Health Sciences at USM, presented the award to Dr. Turner, who is currently a student in the Master of Health program.

Hattiesburg, Miss., April 9, 2013 - William Carey University senior chemistry major Tyree Ratcliff of Hattiesburg has been selected to participate in the 2013 Vanderbilt Summer Undergraduate Research in Chemical Biology program in Nashville, Tenn., May 27 - August 2. Ratcliff was one of the 10 chosen out of 500 applicants for the program. The ten-week, hands-on course is designed to introduce chemistry, biochemistry and biology students to the research processes and the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary research.
Hattiesburg, Miss., March 26, 2012 - The William Carey University Theatre will present Moliere’s comedy Tartuffe April 11-13 and 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Joe and Virginia Tatum Theatre on the Hattiesburg campus. Tartuffe is one of the classical theatre’s greatest comedies, written by one whom most authorities consider to be France’s greatest comic playwright.

Hattiesburg, Miss., March 21, 2013 - The William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine (WCUCOM) Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) is the recipient of the “Young Chapter of the Year” award and was presented with the coveted Golden Tibia at the Spring SOMA Convention in Washington, DC, March 16.
