Braswell Gives Carey Christian Leadership Lecture
Jim Braswell of Hattiesburg, a pilot for Delta Airlines, served as guest speaker for the William Carey University Christian Leadership Lecture on March 4.
Braswell discussed his life and experiences as a college student studying electrical engineering, his marriage to his college sweetheart, his time as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and his experiences as a pilot for four airlines before beginning his 23 years of service at Delta. The central theme of the lecture was Braswell's reliance on and trust in God throughout his life and career.
The son of the late Rex and Mary Alice Braswell, Braswell is married to Peggy Braswell. They have two daughters and five grandchildren. In addition to his work for Delta, he is also an active member and deacon of 38th Avenue Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. He has been involved in various missions, has mentored college students and young couples and has had a special interest in working with Royal Ambassadors, a program for Christian development of boys. Like his parents before him, Braswell also serves as a trustee of Carey.
Christian Leadership Lectures are presented throughout the academic year and feature outstanding individuals from various professions who have achieved success and demonstrated strong leadership. Speakers are invited to share the role their Judeo-Christian principles have had in guiding their personal and professional achievements.
