Dr. Kimberle Moon Joins WCU Music Faculty
Dr. Kimberle Moon, a well-known performer, educator, and clinician who specializes in vocal health issues for singers, actors, and pastors, recently joined the William Carey University Winters School of Music faculty as artist in residence in voice. Dr. Moon obtained her bachelor's and master's in voice from Ohio University before earning her D.M.A. in voice and speech pathology from Ohio State University. She also studied voice, acting, dance, and directing at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.
Dr. Moon has performed with various groups in Florida, including Baptist College of Florida, the Emerald Coast Chorale, the Tallahassee Community Chorus, and the Master Works Chorale. She has also performed in Ohio with the Cantari, Dayton Bach Society, Chamber Music Society and Dayton Chamber Society. Dr. Moon served as a singing voice specialist at Tallahassee Professional Voice Clinic; as ensemble director and adjunct professor of voice, anatomy and physiology of the voice, and vocal pedagogy at Baptist College of Florida; and as adjunct instructor of voice and English diction and director of theater at Chipola Junior College.
Dr. Moon was named Teacher of the Year in 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006; was named Outstanding Chi Omega Alumna for Ohio University in 2002; received the Presidential Leadership Award for the Tallahassee Community Chorus in 1997; received her Certification of Achievement in Laryngeal Video Stroboscopy in 1997, and was the Ohio Regional NATSSA Winner in 1982. She boasts strong community involvement, as well. Dr. Moon was on the Tallahassee Community College Board of Trustees, president of the Tallahassee Community Chorus Board of Directors, and is a member of Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA), Sigma Alpha Iota - Professional Women's Music Honorary (SAI), and National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
