Storm Update
UPDATE: JAN. 21, 2017, 9:40 p.m.
Campus closed at dark this evening. All students who were on campus during the storm are no longer on site. Thank you to the University of Southern Mississippi, families, and others who have provided a safe place for students to stay.
We are asking that students not return to campus on Sunday to collect their belongings. You will be notified when it is safe to return to campus.
No decision has been made at this time about classes next week. You will receive notification when arrangements have been made regarding classes.
We have received many inquiries about student needs and donations. Cash donations can be made on the William Carey University website, www.wmcarey.edu/advancement. Please mark your donation as "Tornado Damage Fund." The giving page is down today due to infrastructure damage, but should be back up on Sunday. Items students may need include toiletries, towels, bedding, snacks, and water. Gift cards are also helpful as they will allow students to buy the items they need.
Volunteers who want to help with cleanup are asked to come to campus after 1 p.m. on Sunday. Please report to the Facilities building (near the baseball and softball fields) on County Drive to check in and see where help is needed. Be careful as you drive into campus. There was much damage in the neighborhoods surrounding campus.
Nearly every building on campus was damaged, with some receiving extensive damage. We are continuing to assess the safety of the buildings.
Faculty and staff will be notified regarding the work schedule next week.
Please continue to check our Facebook page and Twitter account for updates.
We appreciate your prayers and support during this time.
