U.S. News Ranks WCU #1
Hattiesburg, Miss., September 10, 2013 - The U. S. News and World Report rankings released today placed William Carey University #1 in "Best Value in the South among Regional Universities." Carey is also ranked #36 among regional universities in the South. WCU's ranking among regional universities increased significantly from #63 last year.
According to U.S. News, the calculation used takes into account a school's academic quality, as indicated by its 2014 U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2012-2013 net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better value a college has.
"We are extremely proud for Carey to be recognized as the number one best value among regional universities in the south because it represents Carey's diligence to keep costs down while providing a fantastic education," said Dr. Scott Hummel, provost. "In a national context of ever increasing education costs, Carey has been committed to making a quality Christian education affordable. We know how hard our students and their families work to obtain an education, so we are especially grateful for our generous donors who not only make it possible keep costs down, they enable our students to attain their educational dreams."
