WCU Men's Basketball Team to Participate in SSAC West Division Tournament

Head Coach Steve Knight will lead the William Carey University men’s basketball team to the 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) West Division Tournament at the Darlington School in Rome, Ga., on Wednesday, February 29, as they play Emmanuel College for the first game of the tournament.

The Crusaders went 13-17 in the regular season and 9-9 in SSAC post-season games. WCU finished in a tie for second place in the SSAC West Division, but through tiebreakers will be the #5 seed in the tournament. The Crusaders defeated Emmanuel 66-53 in November, with Roderick Little leading the game with 18 points.
Members of the men’s basketball team are Jamal Doss of Flora; Jaron Edwards of Franklinton, La.; Fernando Garcia of Metepec, Mexico; Bassanio Green of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica; Douglas LaRue of Kennett, Pa.; Roderick Little of Moss Point; Christopher London of Birmingham, Ala.; Phillip McCray of McComb; Jason Peychaud of Hover, Ala.; Stefan Sartori of Belgrade, Serbia; Donzedrick Smith of Clinton; Sharod Smith of Meridian; Devarus Walker of Hickory; and Chris Woodall of Jackson. Assistant coaches are Tracy English, Scotty Fletcher, and Jeff Norwood.
