WCU Welcomed New Students at Orientation

Hattiesburg, Miss., August 27, 2013 - William Carey University held orientation for all new undergraduate students, including both freshmen and transfer students, on August 23 in Clinton Gymnasium on the Hattiesburg campus.

The event included tips for successfully managing college life, a brief overview of life at Carey, a devotional by the current Baptist Student Union president Landon Adams,  an inspirational message by the current Miss WCU Jennifer DeMelo, and performances by the Spirit of Carey marching band and cheerleaders. A parent question-and-answer and orientation session was held after the performances. Students were also taken on tours of the campus and given opportunities to ask questions concerning financial aid or other needs.

“Orientation is very important in preparing a student for college life at William Carey,” said Emily Sheckells, director of student activities. “Orientation will provide an opportunity for many of us to introduce ourselves as well as share information that can make the educational stay at the university a great success.”
