CLINICAL SUPERVISION FOR NURSE EDUCATORS

This course will have a one (1) hour theory component and a two (2) hour clinical component. The theory component of the course will explore the role of the nurse educator in the clinical supervision of pre-licensure nursing students. Current theory, standards, strategies, and evaluation techniques will be explored. The clinical component will provide the graduate student an opportunity to assist in the clinical supervision of pre-licensure students. The graduate student will develop communication techniques, evaluation tools, and practical experience for clinical supervision. Other aspects the student will explore include clinical scheduling, pre-conference, post-conference, time management, ethical and legal responsibilities, as well as, the safe management of patient care. 45 hours - theory; 90 hours - clinical supervision.
