Ed Friedlander graduated from Northwestern Medical School and is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He made his adult profession of the Christian faith at age 17 on the University of Chicago campus, and is an active Episcopalian. His personal website, “The Pathology Guy”, has been popular with physicians, students, and the general public for over twenty years, and led to his helping tens of thousands of individuals around the world find the personalized medical guidance that they needed. He served for over two decades as chair of the pathology department at the Kansas City school, and developed dynamic active-learning approaches to the science of disease and its clinical applications. He has practiced in the Kansas City Medical Examiner’s office and with other services. His interest in forensics has enabled him to help with the pro-bono defense of people falsely accused of crimes on bad medical testimony. A casual meeting with a world-champion boxer led to his lasting interesting in ringside medicine and serving for a time as physician to the USA boxing team. A quiet, reserved man and a lifetime bachelor, he’s helped several needy young people start their own careers. He enjoys flying his plane, sport parachuting, and endurance swimming.
