Dr. Noel R. Mann began teaching at William Carey University in 2014. He graduated from Delta State University with a BS and MS, and from the University of Southern Mississippi with his Ph.D. Previously, Dr. Mann taught Chemistry from 1972-1974 at Mississippi Delta Community College, from 1974-2005 at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, from 2005-2010 at the University of Southern Mississippi, and from 2009-2014 at Presbyterian Christian High School. Dr. Mann retired from the U.S. Army Reserve at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as Senior Research Chemist at the U.S. Army Chemical Research Development and Engineering Center at Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Baltimore, MD. While there he obtained a patent during the Gulf War for developing a method using ultrasound to identify chemical agents inside various chemical weapons and helped write the bilateral chemical weapons destruction treaty between the US and the USSR. In addition, Dr. Mann is credited with creating a new Organic molecule, carbonated Vernonia oil, in 2009, while doing research in the Polymer Science Department at USM. Dr. Mann has pastored churches in south Mississippi since 1982 and is currently pastor of Lynn Ray Road Baptist Church in Petal, Mississippi. Dr. Mann is the recipient of numerous awards for his teaching and for his military service.
