Military Appreciation Baseball Game
William Carey University will celebrate and honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces on Saturday, April 13, during our annual Military Appreciation Day game as Crusader Baseball takes on Martin Methodist College.
Admission is free and the community is invited.
First pitch of the doubleheader with the RedHawks is set for 1 p.m. at Milton Wheeler Field. This year's event will include inflatables for the kids and a variety of military equipment on display. The event is sponsored by Raising Cane’s, Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, and William Carey University.
"This is a weekend we always look forward to and this year’s events should be bigger and better than ever," said William Carey Athletic Director DJ Pulley.
"It is always an honor and a privilege to be in the presence of men and women who have answered the call to serve our great country and this event is a way for us to say thank you to them and to say thank you to their families who sacrifice so much. It should be a very fun day at the Milt!"
Gates will open at noon and the Military Appreciation ceremonies will begin about 12:45 p.m. Thw presentation of colors and the national anthem will follow. There will be a special recognition for Vietnam era veterans. Former Crusader Lt. Col. Randall Mantooth will throw out the first pitch.
