WCU Hosts Preaching Seminar
Hattiesburg, Miss., February 26, 2014 - William Carey University hosted a workshop titled, "Preaching Through Hebrews: An Expository Sermon Preparation Seminar" on February 24 in Thomas Business Building. Nearly 30 preachers from North Mississippi to the Gulf Coast were in attendance. Keynote speakers were Dr. Brett Golson, coordinator of bi-vocational programs and assistant professor of religion at WCU; Kevin Jackson, pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Grenada; Dr. Chas Rowland, pastor of Bovina Baptist Church, and Wade Stevens, pastor of First Baptist Church of Mathiston.
Dr. Golson, who has served as a pastor for over 20 years, planned the seminar to help preachers with sermon preparation. The seminar focused on planned preaching through a book of the Bible, and those in attendance worked together to come up with 25 sermon outlines to use for Sunday services. The overall mission of the workshop was to hone sermon preparation and development skills and allow the pastors a chance to fellowship with and learn from one another.
