Carey named a Best Value university in the South
William Carey University ranks as one of the “Best Value” regional universities in the South, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2018 college rankings released on September 12.
William Carey ranked third among regional universities in the South on the Best Value list. In addition to the school’s academic quality, the rankings were determined using factors such as the 2016-17 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average amount of need-based financial aid, the percentage of all undergraduates receiving need-based awards, and the percentage of a school’s total cost covered by these awards.
Overall, U.S. News & World Report recognized Carey as number 48 out of 149 schools in its list of “Regional Universities” in the South, which includes both public and private universities in the 12 Southern states.
The rankings also recognize William Carey University as an “A-Plus School for B Students.” This ranking takes into account the individuality of the student body and opportunities available for students who did not make high ACT or SAT scores or did not place in the top 25 percent of their high school class.
“William Carey continues to receive recognition for the quality of its educational programs and the low cost of attendance,” said President Tommy King. “We continue to focus on cost containment in order to make it possible for students to afford to attend Carey. We are pleased with our 2018 rankings.”
