College of Osteopathic Medicine presents 2018 Research Symposium

William Carey University’s 2018 Research Symposium is set for April 27 from noon to 4 p.m. The symposium schedule will include guest speakers and students will present posters documenting their research projects. The event will take place in Lecture Hall 1 in the Medical Arts Building, College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Research Symposium Schedule

  • Noon to 1 p.m.
    Welcome. Introduction of keynote speaker Gerald Coleman III by WCU Associate Dean Dr. Everett Roark. Coleman is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His topic: “Was it Divine Intervention?” Lunch provided.
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
    Research poster presentations. Posters will be on display from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the College of Osteopathic Medicine’s academic lobby.
  • 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    Keynote speaker Luisa Hiller, Ph.D. Her topic: “How Do Microbes Make You sick?
  • 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    Invited speaker WCU Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy Dr. Amy Parker. Her topic: “Access to Rehabilitation in Rural Mississippi: Can Affordable Robots and Assistive Technology Help?”
  • 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    Awards ceremony for research posters and final remarks. First, second and third place prizes sponsored by Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association
