Dr. James Turner, dean of William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM), has been appointed to the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA).
“I am honored to be chosen to serve in this capacity, and I look forward to helping my colleagues uphold the standards and advance the progress of osteopathic medicine,” Turner said.
Dr. Turner and the other commissioners will review site visits, as well as mid-cycle and annual reports submitted by COMs in the United States with the goal of ensuring that each is meeting COCA standards.
“This appointment is not only an honor for Dr. Turner, but also for William Carey University, as this body accredits all osteopathic medical schools in the country,” WCU President Dr. Tommy King said.
