Volunteerism: PT Day of Service
Students from William Carey University’s Physical Therapy program fanned out over Hattiesburg on Saturday, Oct. 13, for their Day of Service 2018.
Groups volunteered at Edwards Street Fellowship Thrift Store, Salvation Army Thrift Store, Fieldhouse Thrift Store and Main Street Books. This is one of several annual projects designed to serve others during special events and mission outreach.
The three-year Physical Therapy doctoral program also sponsors the Community Partners program, which enables community members with neurological or orthopedic conditions to work with Physical Therapy students in the classroom. Community Partners provide learning experiences for students, who get to know the “patients,” learn about health problems from their perspectives, and practice clinical skills and assessments.
