Felicia Bond was crowned William Carey University’s 2019 Homecoming Queen March 23 during a ceremony at Milton Wheeler Field.
Bond is a music education major with a concentration in clarinet. She is the president of Gamma Chi Sorority, a member of music ensembles, and the resident director of Byrd Hall. She is the daughter of Donald and Wendy Bond of Mobile, Ala. She was escorted by her father, Donald Bond.

Alex GreenSenior Maid Alex Green is the daughter of Byron and Michelle Green of Brandon. She is a nursing major. She is involved in Student Nurses Association, Omicron Delta Kappa, Alpha Chi, Student Foundation, Symphonic Winds, and was a past freshman representative, secretary, and vice president of the Student Government Association. She was escorted by her father, Byron Green.
Amia GreenSenior Maid Amia Green is the daughter of Frederick and Barbara Green of Byram. She is studying biology and was inducted into the Alpha Chi and Delta Omicron Honor Societies. During her time at Carey, she has been involved in the Student Government Association, Resident Assistant Program, Carey Connection, Chemistry Club, and International Student Organization. She was escorted by her Father, Frederick Green.
Haley HargettJunior Maid Haley Hargett is the daughter of Greg and Stephanie Hargett of Brookhaven. She is nursing major. Haley is an active member in Pi Omega sorority and the Student Nurses Association. She is also involved in the Baptist Student Union and is a former junior representative for the Student Government Association. She was escorted by her father, retired Lt. Col Greg Hargett, U.S. Army.
Grace Powell Junior Maid Grace Powell is the daughter of Darrell and Lisa Thames of Petal. She is double majoring in intercultural studies and elementary education. Grace is involved in Student Government Association. She is a resident assistant, and plays clarinet in the Spirit of Carey and Evidence Winds indoor marching ensemble. She was escorted by her father, Darrell Thames.
Ashley SmithSophomore Maid Ashley Smith is the daughter of Alfred and Sonya Smith of Jackson. She is an elementary education major and has been on the President’s List for four trimesters. She is a Carey Scholar. She is a member of the Baptist Student Union Leadership Team, works at Common Grounds, and is involved in Worship Choir. She was escorted by her father, Alfred Smith.
Betsy TruexSophomore Maid Betsy Truex is the daughter of Scott and Ellen Truex who are missionaries serving overseas. She is a cross-cultural business management major. She was is escorted by Dr. Brett Golson of William Carey University.
Alanna WiestFreshman Maid Alanna Wiest is the daughter of Ivan and Michelle Wiest of Silverhill, Ala. She is a nursing and intercultural studies double major. She is a co-social chair of Gamma Chi sorority and a work study student in the Admissions Office. She serves with the Baptist Student Union’s Apartment Ministries program. She was escorted by her brother, Andrew Wiest.
Delaney DukesFreshman Maid Delaney Dukes is the daughter of Thomas Dukes, and Tracy and DeDe English, of Hattiesburg. She is a mass communication major and is involved in the theatre department. She was escorted by her brother, Lance Johnson.
Mr. & Miss WCUMiss WCU Lynn Pendleton is the daughter of Don and Celyn Pendleton of Theodore, Ala. She is an intercultural studies and psychology major with a minor in English. She is currently in Gamma Chi Sorority and is a work study student for the Post Office. She has previously served as the Student Government Association’s commissioner of elections and been a part of Tuscan Reeds, The Spirit of Carey, and concert groups.
Mr. WCU Ian Pittman is the son of Alfred and Melinda Pittman of Columbia. He is an English and religion double major. He is president of Alpha Chi, Sigma Tau Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, and serves as editor-in-chief The Indigo. He has previously served as managing editor of The Cobbler, and as president of the William Carey University Scholars.
