The Charlotte McGuire Scholarship Program is named in honor of AHNA’s founder. It is awarded to holistic nurses who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate levels of nursing education.
A resident of Hammond, La., Meyers has been a registered nurse for 35 years with clinical experience in neonatal and pediatric critical care. She is currently a faculty member in a bachelor’s degree nursing program at Southeastern Louisiana University. She has been a member of AHNA for 22 years and is certified as an Advanced Holistic Nurse and as a Nurse Educator.
Meyers is currently pursuing a PhD in nursing at William Carey University. Her research interests include exploring resiliency, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence as attributes for leadership in a quantum and servant model. Her future career goals include working with public policy, graduate level nursing education, and wellness program development.
Founded in 1981, AHNA’s primary mission is to advance holistic healthcare by increasing awareness, promoting education, and helping to build communities among nurses, other healthcare professionals and the public. Holistic nursing focuses on integrating traditional, complementary and alternative treatment opportunities to improve the mind body and spiritual health of the whole person.
