In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, William Carey University hosted a virtual Honors Day Convocation on April 29. The annual event recognizes students for outstanding academic and leadership achievements. It also recognizes faculty and staff with awards based on voting by the student body.
“Although we had fully expected to gather for an academic processional dressed in full academic regalia, call the students’ names and present these awards to onstage at Thomas Fine Arts Auditorium, the pandemic prevents it,” WCU President Dr. Tommy King said.
“I regret that these students will not be able to experience that special moment. But they have worked long and hard, and it is incumbent on us to recognize their achievement.”
