Carey athletes: “Serving those who serve us”
Student athletes from William Carey University treated Hattiesburg police officers and firefighters to lunch Dec. 9 to show appreciation for all they do for our community. It’s part of a service project sponsored by the Athletic Student Leadership Council called, “Serving those who serve us.”
WCU students delivered lunch at three fire stations, and police officers swung by the WCU Office of Advancement to pick up their plates.
In this photo, WCU student Lachan Terrell gives Officer Roderick Frelix of the Hattiesburg Police Department a lunch plate. A native of Hattiesburg, Terrell is a graduate student studying math education. She also plays on the basketball team and serves as resident director of one of WCU’s residence halls.
Lunch from Chesterfield’s was hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and lima beans. The drinks came from Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
