WCU students inducted into Sigma Tau Delta
William Carey University’s Department of Language and Literature inducted seven new members into the Alpha Gamma Gamma chapter of Sigma Tau Delta English honor society on Dec. 18.
Founded in 1924, Sigma Tau Delta's vision is to "transform the world with words." The society strives to honor high academic achievement in English language and literature; provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses; promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members; and serve society by fostering literacy.
The new members are:
- Levi Akers of Killen, Ala.
- Samantha Burleson of Bossier City, La.
- Endia Dees of Gulfport
- Daniela Deviney of Laurel
- Ceanna Nichols of Sumrall
- Skylah Smith of Waynesboro
- Katelyn Tolbert of Laurel
Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students with an overall B average in English courses and ranking in the highest 35 percent of their class in general scholarship. The faculty sponsor is Dr. Marsha Newman.
