“Duck Dynasty” star headlines WCU’s Scholarship Gala
William Carey University’s 13th Annual Scholarship Gala will be Oct. 15 at Lake Terrace Convention Center.
This year’s guest speaker is Wille Robertson. Businessman, outdoorsman, hunter, speaker, and author, Robertson is best known as CEO of Duck Commander on A&E’s “Duck Dynasty.” Duck Commander is not only the brand of the best-selling duck call in the United States, but also a popular trademark for apparel, hunting gear, wine, foods, spices and more.
Robertson expanded his family company from a living room operation to a multi-million-dollar enterprise and a premiere destination for “all things outdoors” – including Buck Commander, Fin Commander, Strut Commander and Duck Commander Family Foods.
He is a New York Times best-selling author of “The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family and Ducks built a Dynasty,” “American Hunter,” “American Fisherman,” and “American Entrepreneur.” He and his family also made a platinum-selling Christmas album called “Duck the Halls.”
“Willie combines his passion for the outdoors with a natural ability to connect with people. His story is a model of entrepreneurship and dedication – but at its core, it’s about family values and faith in God,” said Karen Golson, WCU’s director of advancement.
Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships at William Carey University – where 90 percent of all students receive financial assistance.
The gala starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available until Oct. 2. For more information, visit www.wmcarey.edu/gala or call WCU Advancement at (601) 318-6192.
