12th Annual Carey Honor Band Clinic
February 22-24, 2024

Dear Band Director:

This year, William Carey University will hold its 12th Annual Honor Band Clinic February 22-24, 2024. William Carey University and the Winters School of Music is proud to sponsor this event for your strongest musicians and students.

The recommendation process for the Carey Honor Band will be in online format. Please go to this link: https://forms.microsoft.com/r/3925cRbni7 and follow the instructions provided. We are asking that you please submit your recommendations by November 14th, 2023.

William Carey University will not provide housing for this event, but numerous hotel options exist in Hattiesburg, please see list below. Each student must be chaperoned by their band director and/or a parent or guardian. Every school is guaranteed at least two participants. When you receive the selection results in mid-December, we will provide additional detailed information and instructions for student registration.

The 2024 Carey Honor Band Clinic will feature Col. Lowell Graham and Jody Dunn as clinicians. Col. Graham is the former conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. and Past-President of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association. Mr. Dunn is currently in his 33rd year high school teaching and is a member of the ASBDA, NBA, NAFME, and Past-President of the Omega Chapter of Phi Beta Mu. I am confident that your students will have an unbelievable musical experience at Carey Honor Band!

Additionally, the 2024 Carey Honor Band is prepared to expand to three honor bands if interest exceeds our current format. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at 803-445-6898 or by email at tcoakley@wmcarey.edu. If I can be of assistance to you, your staff, or your students do not hesitate to reach out.
