All full-time international students, under the age of 21, are required to live on campus. This is purposefully designed in order to insure that new students, both Americans and Internationals, adjust well to university life at Carey.

In your dormitory, you will be provided with a bed, closet, dresser, desk, chair, and mini-blinds. However, you will need to purchase your own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and toiletries. In addition, some students even purchase microwaves and small refrigerators for their dorm rooms.

We recommend that these purchases for your dormitory be made after your arrival in the United States. Why? For three simple reasons: The first is to limit the amount of baggage you bring into the country; second, most foreign electrical appliances cannot be used over here (the standard output in the United States is of 110v/220v); third, bed linens are in different sizes in the United States.

More than likely, you will have to share your dorm room with another person. We strongly believe that this experience will enhance your personal understanding of mutual respect and give you the unique opportunity to interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Please note that our dormitories close during specific times of the academic year. During this time, most of our students go home. However, in pursuit for meeting the needs of our international students, who can't go home every break, Carey's dormitories stay open all year round.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early due to limited housing availability on-campus. In order to ensure housing preferences, international students are encouraged to enter during the spring or summer trimester if possible. Application deadlines for admission and housing are as follows:

  • Summer Trimester - April 1
  • Fall Trimester - June 1
  • Winter Trimester - September 1
  • Spring Trimester - December 1
