England
The world has opened to Carey Scholars as they have traveled to England and experienced numerous sites including London, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, and “Carey Country” where William Carey grew up, worked as a cobbler, pastored, and launched the modern missionary movement. In London, Carey Scholars have climbed to the top of the dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral, watched the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, explored museums, watched a play in the theatre district, and worshipped in Westminster Abbey, where the Carey Lectern can still be seen with Carey’s famous words and our university’s creed emblazoned across the front, “Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.”
While the England trip is contingent upon financial conditions of the university, so far the university has been able to provide a trip to England for each class of Carey Scholars. Contingent on spaces, others are able to join the trip at their expense.
