Weekly Activities

  1. Baptist Student Union
  2. Weekly Activities

Each day, College students must face the challenges of college life: majors and minors, deadlines and decisions, books and ball games, romance and rebellion, vacations and vocations, choices and changes. This is every day in the life of a college student. Our job is to uplift, encourage, reach out, help in any way possible, and serve the college community of WCU. We provide students with a time for God, friends, and fun. careyBSU has numerous opportunities each week for spiritual formation, through worship, fellowship, and service.

Campus Link

...a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

campusLINK is an on campus worship service held on Monday night at 7:00 P.M. This event provides a time for students to break away from the worries of college life and draw near to God. We have small group discussions and speakers from the student body, faculty and local churches. Worship is led by the BSU praise band.

Exalt the LORD our God; worship at His footstool! Holy is He!
(Psalm 99:5)

Priority Lunch

But He answered, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

priorityLUNCH is a FREE lunch for students on Tuesdays at 12:00. Our aim is to not only meet a physical need but also a spiritual one. This is a time for “spiritual and physical nourishment” and a time to connect and build relationships with people that we may not see on a daily basis.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
(Acts 2:42 ESV)

Prayer Breakfast

The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. (James 5:16)

prayerBREAKFAST is a weekly ministry used to re-center our minds and hearts on Christ through mediation and prayer. During this time we focus on our university, community, state, nation, and the World, so come join us on Friday mornings in the BSU house at 9:25.

...praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
(Ephesians 6:18)

Apartment Ministries

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1)

apartmentMINISTRIES is a time where share the Gospel message with neighborhood children by helping them with their homework. We do this through building relationships, telling Bible stories, and providing a positive atmosphere in which to learn.

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 19:14)

Going Deeper

What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:2)

At careyBSU we understand that the future spread of the gospel is not dependent on the works of a few, but rather on the full body of Christ teaching future generations. Our goal is to make disciples that make disciples. We offer several different life groups throughout the week for both guys and gals. Life groups are small, non-threatening group environments where students can follow along with the current series with other students, and gain new and deeper friendships as well as accountability and growth in their spiritual walk. These series focus on a variety of topics such as book studies, topical studies, and themed studies. It is important to continually grow and encourage each other in our daily walk with the Lord.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
(2 Timothy 2:15)
