Degree Requirements
The department of art at the Tradition campus offers a major and minor in art with programs leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or the Bachelor of Arts degree. The Hattiesburg campus offers a major and minor in art withprograms leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree. All applicants for a four-year art degree must present an acceptable art portfolio prior to enrolling. All B.F.A. and B.A. art students must maintain a portfolio according to departmental guidelines.
B.A. and B.F.A. degrees combine three parts: art core courses, B.A. and B.F.A. core courses, and courses in the major concentration. Students may choose from the following concentrations: painting, graphic design, combined studio, art education.

The following art core courses are required for the B.F.A. and the B.A. degrees:
- Art History -12 hours (including Art History I and II)
- Drawing -12 hours (B.F.A.), 6 hours (B.A.)
- 2D/3D Design - 6 hours
- Computer Graphics - 3 hours
- Painting - 3 hours
- Printmaking (ART351, 352, or 451) - 3 hours
- Photography - 3 hours
- Senior Seminar - 3 hours
