Carey Exhibit Features Prominent Mississippi Artists
Hattiesburg, Miss., September 21, 2012 - The Sarah Ellen Gillespie Museum of Art at William Carey University is currently displaying a fall exhibit featuring works by Lucile Parker, Greg Cartmell, William Hollingsworth, Jr. Marie Hull, Karl Wolfe, and other Mississippi artists. The exhibit will hang until September 28.
Named for Hattiesburg native and art patron Sarah Gillespie, the museum houses the most complete collection of art produced by Mississippians in the 20th century. It includes nearly 500 works, and employs various media and a wide range of subject matter done by artists from every section of the state.
The fall exhibit will be WCU's first in the museum for the 2012-2013 academic year. The exhibit is open to the public free of charge. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 1 - 4 p.m., or by appointment (601) 318 - 6592.
