WCU Students Take Top Honors at National Singing Competition
Hattiesburg, Miss., November 30, 2012 - Two William Carey University music students received high honors at the annual National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Conference and Competition for the Southern Region held at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge November 8-10. Brandon Hayes, a senior from Collins, took first place in the Upper Musical Theatre Category and second place in the Graduate Men’s Category. Emma Oberdick, a freshman from Wadsworth, Ill., won first place in the Freshman Women’s Category. The WCU students were accompanied by Kathy Vail, associate professor of music, and coached by Dr. Connie Roberts, professor of music.
There were 500 individual competitors from colleges and universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
