August 2020 Commencement to be hosted online

All of the ceremonies will air on the WCU website on August 15 at the following times:

Ceremony 1 ~ 10:00 a.m.
College of Health Sciences ~ Graduate and Undergraduate
Joseph and Nancy Fail School of Nursing ~ Doctoral, Graduate, and Undergraduate

Ceremony 2 ~ 11:00 a.m.
School of Education ~ Doctoral and Education Specialist

Ceremony 3 ~ 1:00 p.m.
School of Education ~ Graduate and Undergraduate

Ceremony 4 ~ 2:00 p.m.
Ralph and Naomi Noonkester School of Arts & Letters ~ Graduate and Undergraduate
School of Business ~ Graduate and Undergraduate
Cooper School of Missions and Ministry Studies ~ Undergraduate
Donald and Frances Winters School of Music ~ Graduate and Undergraduate
School of Natural & Behavioral Sciences ~ Graduate and Undergraduate


The ceremonies will be available for viewing at later times, so it is not necessary that you access the ceremonies when they are first released.

Students that submitted an application for degree for August will receive an email from the Provost with instructions and details. Graduates will have the option of picking up their diplomas on campus or receiving their diplomas by mail. Diplomas will be mailed beginning the week of August 17, 2020. Students must complete the August 2020 Commencement Response form (https://forms.wmcarey.edu/view.php?id=101735) to identify preference for pick-up or mail delivery and to provide essential information including the mailing address to which they want their diploma mailed. Diplomas will not be mailed without this address identified.

Graduates are encouraged to submit a photo to be displayed during the virtual ceremony. Send the photo to gradphoto@wmcarey.edu.

For the photo, you may either wear graduation apparel or professional dress (at a minimum, a blouse or collared shirt, no t-shirts please). Please include the way you would like to have your name displayed in the video.

The deadline for submitting photos is July 24.   


ALL UNIVERSITY HOLDS MUST BE CLEARED BEFORE THE STUDENT’S DIPLOMA CAN BE MAILED!

William Carey University celebrates commencement ceremonies twice a year (May and August) on the Hattiesburg campus for all teaching locations.  Multiple ceremonies will be held over approximately 4 days and will last approximately 2 hours each. For a complete schedule click here.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
You may use the Google Map below to plan your trip to William Carey University from anywhere, or find basic driving directions for commonly-traveled routes at the bottom of the page.



From South, Mobile AL via Hwy 98 to Hwy 49 or South from Gulfport on Hwy 49 Going North
Enter Hattiesburg on Hwy 49 North and drive approx. 4.2 miles from HWY 98/HWY 49 Intersection and look for William Carey University sign and turn right at traffic signal at William Carey Parkway. Proceed down William Carey Parkway through three stop signs. For nearest parking, turn right onto Tuscan Avenue. Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center) is located on the right at N. Commission Drive. For additional parking, turn right onto Cherry Street and another right onto County Drive.

From South, New Orleans, or Southwest (via I-10 or I-12) on I-59 Going North
Drive into Hattiesburg on I-59N and take exit 60 (signed William Carey University). Turn right off exit ramp on HWY 11 and proceed to junction with Hwy 49 and exit right (south). Go under railroad bridge then take left at next traffic signal onto William Carey Parkway. Proceed down William Carey Parkway through three stop signs. For nearest parking, turn right onto Tuscan Avenue. Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center) is located on the right at N. Commission Drive. For additional parking, turn right onto Cherry Street and another right onto County Drive.

From North, Jackson MS or West (via I-20) into Jackson MS Take Hwy 49 Going South
Drive into Hattiesburg on Hwy 49S go past Southern Miss and through Hardy Street intersection. Continue on HWY 49S until you go under railroad bridge then take left at next traffic signal onto William Carey Parkway. Proceed down William Carey Parkway through three stop signs. For nearest parking, turn right onto Tuscan Avenue. Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center) is located on the right at N. Commission Drive. For additional parking, turn right onto Cherry Street and another right onto County Drive.

From Alabama via Meridian, Laurel on I-59 Going South
Drive into Hattiesburg exit right at Hwy 49 going south, go past Southern Miss and through Hardy Street intersection. Continue on HWY 49 until you go under railroad bridge then take left at next traffic signal onto William Carey Parkway. Proceed down William Carey Parkway through three stop signs. For nearest parking, turn right onto Tuscan Avenue. Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center) is located on the right at N. Commission Drive. Parking

Parking for graduates and guests is available in the designated ‘Parking’ areas on campus.

Parking for Commencement activities is free in designated areas on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Please note that traffic can become congested in Hattiesburg and around the university campus during Commencement weekend. Guests should expect delays and allow extra time for travel and parking.

For nearest parking, turn right onto Tuscan Avenue.  Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center) is located on the right at N. Commission Drive.  For additional parking, turn right onto Cherry Street and another right onto County Drive.

A state-issued disability placard prominently displayed inside the vehicle or state-issued disability plate is required to park in accessible parking. The accessible parking area is located at the front of Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center). WCU will not reserve any parking spaces. Parking is first come first serve.

There will be a drop-off area located outside of Thomas Hall (Fine Arts Center) for guests with accessibility needs or mobility impairments. Those wishing to make use of this should enter campus on N. Commission Drive. After drop-off, the vehicle should proceed to one of the standard parking lots as outlined in the information above.
