Accreditation & Student Outcomes
The traditional Master of Occupational Therapy Program at William Carey University has applied for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E, Bethesda, MD 20814.
The program must be granted Candidacy Status, have a pre-accreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT Certification Examination or attain state licensure.

Filing a Complaint Against the William Carey University Occupational Therapy Program
Complaints Outside of Due Process
When interested parties experience difficulties with program faculty, staff, policies, procedures, or practices, they may file a complaint. Faculty and staff should strive to resolve differences closest to the source to avoid the need for a formal complaint. However, if an unsatisfied individual wishes to file a formal complaint, they must do so in writing, to the Program Director. The Program Director investigates and attempts to resolve the complaint directly as circumstances indicate. If no resolution is available from the Program Director, or involves the Program Director, the complainant may proceed to the Vice President of Health Sciences, followed by the President of the University.
