About Robert Whitehead
Born in 1944 in Macon, Mississippi, Robert Whitehead grew up to become a respected businessman and philanthropist devoted to serving Christ and his community. At the age of nine, he accepted Jesus at First Baptist Church in Louisville, MS, a decision that shaped his entire life and career.
After graduating from Corinth High School, Robert pursued higher education at Mississippi State University, where his dedication to learning and leadership blossomed. He later became an influential figure in the education sector, serving as the President of the PTO at Brandon High School and as a member of the Rankin County School Board of Education for 11 years. His commitment extended to his alma mater, where he was a member of the Mississippi State University Foundation Board.
In 1969, Robert began his entrepreneurial journey, selling chainsaw parts out of the trunk of his two-door Impala. His drive and business acumen caught the attention of Stihl and Honda, who offered him franchise opportunities. Robert successfully built these franchises into thriving businesses and later sold them. He then acquired an X-mark franchise, which he has operated for 35 years, distributing to Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, West Tennessee, and most of Kentucky. Under his leadership, the franchise has thrived, providing employment opportunities in a Christian environment and ensuring fair and generous income for his employees.
Beyond his business endeavors, Robert’s commitment to philanthropy and education is evident through his support for numerous colleges and seminaries across the country. His generosity has enabled many to pursue their academic and spiritual goals. He has worked closely with institutions like New Orleans Baptist Seminary, RAM Missions, Yellowstone Baptist College, American Seminary, Blue Mountain College, and William Carey University. His efforts have extended to mission work worldwide, reflecting his dedication to the Kingdom of God.
In recognition of his contributions, William Carey University awarded Robert Whitehead an honorary Doctorate Degree in 2021 for his support of the university and its evangelical programs. As a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church, he has served as a deacon and participated in numerous committees, living out his faith in all aspects of his life.
Robert Whitehead credits his success and business acumen to his Savior, Jesus Christ, and remains committed to leveraging his influence for the glory of God.
