The William Carey University ACT Camp is back!!
William Carey is pivoting the way we do ACT Camp to meet your needs!
The WCU School of Education is excited to announce that we will offer our annual ACT Prep Camp to anyone looking to increase their scores. If you need a higher ACT score for college admission, university program admission, scholarship opportunities, or job, we are here to help you achieve your goal.
With a historical average score increase of 2.5 points (some as much as 8 points), we are thrilled about the past success of this camp. We have witnessed the growth of participants that has allowed them to expand their college options and gain admission into schools they may not have thought were within reach. We are excited to offer the camp once again on the Hattiesburg Campus of William Carey.
Please note:
- With a limited number of seats, priority will be given to high school students. All applicants are required to submit scores from at least one previous attempt.
- Priority will be given to those who have not yet scored at least a 21 on the National ACT exam.
Dates and Schedule
The Fall 2024 WCU ACT Camp will be offered during the first week in October. Several local school districts are on intersession during these dates and can utilize the camp as an enrichment opportunity for students. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you in this program.

What is the cost of camp?
The cost of camp is $100.00 per applicant. This fee will be due AFTER you receive a seat offer from WCU and you accept that offer.
A notarized medical release form will be required for all minors attending camp.
Once you receive a seat offer, you must commit to register for the October 26, 2024 National ACT exam at a location of your choice.
Scores must be reported to WCU regardless of whether you intend to apply to WCU as a student. Scores will be utilized in measuring improvement among all participants, showing the effectiveness of this camp. High school students should see their guidance counselor at school concerning a fee waiver for the ACT exam if they feel they qualify.
How do I apply for a seat at camp?
Click the application link found on this page. Applications will be submitted electronically. High school student applications will automatically be forwarded to a parent email address for final signature and submission.
The Center for Creative Scholars serves as a laboratory and research organization within the advanced program in Gifted Education offered by the School of Education. In both the Winter and Summer seasons, our organization presents stimulating opportunities for gifted learners to engage in creative exploration. These events provide teachers in the program with hands-on experience working with exceptional learners in an organic setting.
During the month of January, we offer STEAM SATURDAY, a program designed for gifted learners in grades 2-6. This one-day event features STEM-based activities integrated with the arts, encouraging critical thinking and creativity.
In June, we host SUMMER EX-STREAM, a three-day program for gifted learners in grades 2-6 that provides opportunities for critical thinking and musical experiences. Participants conclude the program with a creative musical performance.
While it is recommended that participants be enrolled in an intellectually gifted program at their school, it is not mandatory. We welcome participation from homeschool learners as well.
