Educational Opportunities
William Carey's School of Education strives to offer educational opportunities to the students of Mississippi. Please take a look at the events below and give us a call if you have questions or need any assistance.
UPDATE: March 20, 2025
Thank you for your interest in attending an ACT Prep Camp at William Carey University. After ten years of conducting this camp, we have had to make the difficult decision to suspend the ACT Prep Camp program until further notice. There will not be a camp offered in 2025. Please feel free to check back next spring for further information.
There are many prep book options on the market that may fit your needs for studying for the exam. Most high schools have active programs as well. Below is information on the prep book used in our sessions for several years in case you want to explore it as an option. This book has six full length practice exams, answer key, and content review for testing at home. The layout seemed to us to be easiest to navigate and understand.

The Center for Creative Scholars serves as a laboratory and research organization within the advanced program in Gifted Education offered by the School of Education. In both the Winter and Summer seasons, our organization presents stimulating opportunities for gifted learners to engage in creative exploration. These events provide teachers in the program with hands-on experience working with exceptional learners in an organic setting.
During the month of January, we offer STEAM SATURDAY, a program designed for gifted learners in grades 2-6. This one-day event features STEM-based activities integrated with the arts, encouraging critical thinking and creativity.
In June, we host SUMMER EX-STREAM, a three-day program for gifted learners in grades 2-6 that provides opportunities for critical thinking and musical experiences. Participants conclude the program with a creative musical performance.
While it is recommended that participants be enrolled in an intellectually gifted program at their school, it is not mandatory. We welcome participation from homeschool learners as well.
