Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

EMERGENCY FINANCIAL AID GRANTS TO STUDENTS

  1. William Carey University acknowledges the execution and submission of the Department of Education’s Certification and Agreement for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds authorized by the following legislative acts:
    • Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)
    • Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act, 2021 (CRRSAA)
    • American Rescue Plan (ARP)
    We also commit the funds will be used to provide emergency financial aid grants to students at a level to meet or exceed the amounts required by legislation.
  2. William Carey University has received $6,537,336 through CARES, CRRSAA, and ARP for emergency financial aid grants to students.
  3. As of 06/30/2022 William Carey University has distributed $8,310,703 (from Student and Institutional portion) to students.
  4. William Carey University had approximately 9,500 students eligible to receive emergency funds.
  5. As of 06/30/2022 William Carey University has distributed emergency financial aid grants to 3,658 students.
  6. William Carey University chose to select students for HEERF grants by means of a brief online application. We deemed this the best method to quickly grant aid to students with exceptional financial need. The amounts distributed were determined by using a statistical model that ranked students into quartiles based upon responses to application questions.
    Awards were disbursed in the following terms:
    • Spring 2020
    • Summer 2020
    • Spring 2021
    • Summer 2021
    • Fall 2021
    • Spring 2022
  7. Students were invited by email, web announcement, and student portal to submit the brief online application.
