This program is 34 credit hours and may be completed in as few as 12 months (four trimesters).

This program is 100% online and is convenient for the full-time working student.
Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Prospective Students must:
- Complete application for graduate admission to William Carey University and pay all necessary fees.
- Submit official transcripts for all colleges and universities attended to Graduate Admissions.
- Hold a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Provide two letters of recommendation and a current resume showing work experience and education.
- Have an cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on the last 60 undergraduate hours.
- Must hold an undergraduate degree in HIM OR have successfully completed the following undergraduate courses, as reflected on undergraduate transcripts:
- Anatomy
- Medical Terminology
- Computer concepts and applications
- Statistics
- Students are allowed to transfer up to 9 credit hours of graduate work from another college or university to be applied to the MS-HIIM degree. The individual student is responsible for asking for possible transfer credit and providing the appropriate documents, course catalog descriptions, and syllabi for review by the program director. Approval of transfer credit lies with the College of Health Sciences (per WCU Graduate Catalog: Transfer Courses Policy).
