Carey’s Secondary Education equips aspiring educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to not only support the academic development of their students, but also inspire change and make a lasting difference in their classrooms and beyond. Students will participate in challenging and innovative coursework taught by experienced K-12 educators and graduate as confident, empowered Christian leaders.

Secondary teaching licensure is offered in biology/chemistry, English, mathematics, and social sciences/history. Teacher candidates who plan to teach at the high school level should major in a secondary subject matter field.

Secondary teaching certification requirements include the university core, additional teacher education core courses, the specialty area courses and all professional education courses.


Delivery Method

This will depend on the area a student selects as a specialty area.

Prospective students must:

Meet all undergraduate admissions requirements of the University

Complete an online application & pay application fee

Submit all official transcripts electronically to Admissions


Career Outlooks

Graduates of this program will be eligible to apply for a Mississippi teaching license which will enable them to work as Secondary Education teachers.
