William Carey University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science with an emphasis in one of the following areas: Criminal Justice, Biology or Chemistry.

The Forensic Science Program is housed in the Department of Criminal Justice and is 120 credit hours. The Program is designed to prepare students for work in the field of forensic science and investigations in a variety of positions such as crime scene investigator, crime lab analyst, forensic technician, and more.

Hours

The program is 120 hours and can be completed in less than 4 years for incoming freshman and less than 2 years for students transferring from a community college.


Delivery Method

The Forensic Science program is offered fully on-site and in hybrid format at both our Hattiesburg campus and our Tradition campus.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (Sept 2022), the job outlook in the field of forensic science shows an 11% growth over the next decade which is slightly higher than other job outlooks.


Set Yourself Apart

Our program provides a learning environment that prepares students with the skill set necessary for employment in the field. Students in our program will learn real-world skills such as forensic photography, crime scene documentation/investigation, firearms analysis, death investigation, and policy & procedures. The professors in the Criminal Justice Department (Forensic Science Program) bring real world experience to the classroom as a result of their work experience as former investigators, crime scene analysts, mobile lab directors, and crime scene technicians.
