The Mass Communication program at William Carey University is designed for students passionate about media, communication, and the impact of both in today's society. Our program offers a comprehensive education that combines theory with practical application, preparing students for the dynamic field of mass communication. Majors can choose between two concentrations: Electronic Media and News Production or Public Relations, each tailored to provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in their chosen field. In addition to a robust common core, students will engage in concentration-specific courses and electives, rounding out a curriculum that fosters expertise and versatility in mass media production, news writing, and public relations campaigns.

Hours

Both degree offerings are 128 hours total and can be completed within the traditional 4 years. Classes are offered on a two year cycle with most classes offered every year giving transfer students the ability to complete the program within a two year cycle.

Both degrees have the potential for the student to double major with several degree programs and still complete the degree within the 4 year plan.


Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements

Prospective students must:

Meet all undergraduate admissions requirements of the University

Complete an online application & pay application fee

Submit official transcripts via eScript or mailed from the institution

Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.0 and a minimum score of 20 on the ACT or 1030 on the SAT
