Program Overview
Hours
This is an accelerated two-year and ten month PharmD program. The School of Pharmacy’s accelerated doctorate program combines core science courses with an experiential learning component focused on clinical training to advance a student’s skills and knowledge as a practicing pharmacist when they graduate. The experiential learning component allows students to work alongside established and trusted industry experts, to gain advanced skills and knowledge to graduate, to become a leader in the profession, and to build their social impact as a pharmacist within our communities.
Delivery Method
This program is delivered in a traditional in-person format at William Carey’s Tradition campus in Biloxi, Mississippi, with required clinical/experiential learning that allows students to work alongside established and trusted industry experts, to gain advanced skills and knowledge to graduate, to become a leader in the profession, and to build their social impact as a pharmacist within our communities.
Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Prospective Students must:
- Complete all prerequisite courses from a regionally accredited US college or university or an English-speaking Canadian college or university with a grade of C- or higher. In addition, all prerequisite science lab courses must be obtained in person (no online lab coursework will be accepted).
- Highly competitive applicants should have prerequisites completed within 7 years of the relevant application cycle. The admissions committee reserves the right to extend the period beyond 7 years on a case-by-case basis.
- All prerequisites must be completed by end of the spring term immediately preceding matriculation into the School of Pharmacy, unless informed otherwise by the admissions office. Dual enrollment precludes admission into the School of Pharmacy; all course work must be completed prior to the first day of class.
- Have a preferred overall GPA or 3.0 or higher, with a preferred science and math GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
Be sure to complete all prerequisites from regionally accredited U.S. colleges/universities or English-speaking Canadian colleges/universities and earn a grade of C- or better in each course.

Overall GPA ≥ 3.0 is preferred
Science and math GPA ≥ 2.5 is preferred
All prerequisites must be completed by the end of the Spring term immediately preceding matriculation into the School of Pharmacy unless informed otherwise by the Admissions Office. Official final transcripts must be forwarded to SOP Admissions immediately following the completion of spring coursework and submitted to PharmCAS.
Dual enrollment precludes admission into the School of Pharmacy; all coursework must be completed prior to the first day of classes.

Tuition & Fees
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the tuition fee for the Doctor of Pharmacy program at William Carey University's School of Pharmacy is set at $44,000. Please note, this does not include additional costs such as professional certificates/licensures, Basic Life Support training and certificate fees, immunizations, drug screenings, criminal background checks, CPR certification, graduation fees, and other expenses related to rotation sites, which are the responsibility of the student. Career Outlooks
With successful completion of the Doctor of Pharmacy program, graduates will be prepared to work in retail or community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, managed care facilities, long term care facilities, government agencies, or in Pharmacy industry careers on research and development or insurance.
The demand for well-trained pharmacists is expected to grow and provide excellent opportunities in the upcoming years. According to the United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics website, “Employment of pharmacists is projected to grow 6 percent from 2016 to 2026.” With a positive employment outlook and an elevated pay structure, choosing a pharmacy path is an exciting and prosperous choice for students.
