Steps Toward Standard Licensure

Testing requirements for admission to Alternate Route Program suspended by MDE until December 2021.

  1. Admission to the Alternate Route Program

    1. A candidate must fulfill the general graduate admission requirements and have an undergraduate degree in a non-teaching field with a required minimum G.P.A. of 2.75 or higher (on a 4.00 academic scale) on his/her college core. The last 64 hours of undergraduate work or a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.75. Also required is a passing score on both the PRAXIS CORE (Core Academic Skills for Educators) or an ACT composite score of 21 or higher and the PRAXIS II specialty area examinations from an approved program area. www.ets.org/praxis

    2. PRAXIS I (Core Academic Skills for Educators)
      • Reading - (5712) - Passing Score 156
      • Writing - (5722) - Passing Score 162
      • Mathematics - (5732) - Passing Score 150
