Student Achievement
William Carey University evaluates success with respect to student achievement including, course completion rates, graduation rates, state licensing examinations, and job placement. Each academic program is required to identify and assess learning outcomes and objectives. Every academic department must link its student learning outcomes to Goal I, Strategy 1.1, Institutional Plan. The results from the student learning outcomes for one year must be incorporated into the student learning outcomes for the following year.
The university regularly monitors course completion rates as part of an annual evaluation process. The table below summarizes past academic years of course completion rates. The course completion rate goal for each academic area is 95%.

School of Education
The School of Education uses the results of licensure exams as one of the indicators of effectiveness of instruction within both the undergraduate and graduate level programs. These exam data are also used by the state as an indicator of overall program effectiveness. Initial programs data includes both undergraduate and graduate level teacher education programs which lead to an initial teacher license. Advanced programs are those graduate programs which lead to an advanced license.
School of Nursing
The School of Nursing uses the results of state licensing board to document student success. An annual NCLEX-RN first-time pass rate of 80%, as reported by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, is required for continued accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the Mississippi Institute of Higher Learning, and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. As measured by the State Boards of Nursing reports of NCLEX-RN, the goal for the pass rate for students will be 80% or higher on 1st attempt.

The College of Osteopathic Medicine tracks its board exams with a goal of COM passing rates matching the national average.
COMLEX Level 1 First-Time Pass Rates
Success on COMLEX Level 1 is essential for graduation. Passing the first time increases chances of procuring a residency. As WCUCOM matures, so do our COMLEX 1 First Time Pass Rates.
COMLEX Level 2 First-Time Pass Rates
Testing for our students does not stop at level 1- They must also complete a COMLEX Level 2 CE. WCUCOM students have a solid success rate on first-time CE examinations.
COMLEX Level 3 First-Time Pass Rates
Finally, students must complete the COMLEX Level 3 examination. This is a huge milestone for the osteopathic graduate.
